Dates

Contract Awarded & Completed December 2015

Background

One of the world’s leading providers of diesel and gas engines required the display screens within their Peterborough site to be refreshed. Remark installed 70 screens in 50 meeting rooms, and specialist Video wall for receptions signage, complete with HDMI connectivity.

Challenges

  • With the contract being awarded in late November 2015 and target completion date the end of the calendar year timescales were tight
  • Some aspects of the project were held due to the client internal delays of sourcing and configuring video conferencing equipment.
  • Working in and around a live working environment

Actions and Solutions

Remark deployed two installation teams to achieve the desired timescale, and working with key personal, on-site arranged meeting rooms to be available for our installation. Furthermore we worked into the evening and weekends to further minimise disruption to local staff.

We experienced some difficulties throughout the project; one in particular involved the meetings rooms located in the Executive team area; there was no cable route available for the new installation. Using stock we had available from our warehouse we were able to demonstrate a solution to resolve this, following a meeting we were tasked with additional works to implement and solution.  We used products from ‘Wyre storm’ to convert HDMI over CAT5 infrastructure cabling.

By upgrading the previously installed ageing equipment we have been able to provide the client with the latest technology providing reductions in energy consumption and extended 3 year warranty.  With the introduction of video conferencing equipment the client has also forecast a reduce travel expenditure as meetings can now happen remotely.
