Client
RS Components (RS), the trading brand of Electrocomponents plc, a global multi-channel distributor who offer more than 500,000 industrial & electronics, with operations in 32 countries.
Brief
The project was for RS Components Distribution Centre in Nuneaton. They had recently completed a newly erected 950m3 mezzanine floor. RS needed a company to provide the electrical and lighting solution for what they called a ‘high-profile project’ within the business.
“We initially reached out to Remark Group as they have proven themselves to be professional, efficient and to give high quality solutions to our past projects.”
Lighting
Remark Group have a wealth of experience in lighting solutions for interior and exterior projects, so when RS Components came to us with the requirements, our project managers had the knowledge and experience to assist.
As lighting is important from a health and safety point of view it was important to adhere to the government guidelines for warehouse lighting. Remark designed and installed the lighting to provide an average lux level of 300. The levels were designed in this way as the mezzanine floor is required to increase storage capacity and improve operation capacity.
“We choose Remark for their professionalism, flexibility and innovative solutions to our project work.”
Installation and COVID-19
Flexibility was a key requirement for this project, both with the pricing and with the timings of the work. Remark Group’s electrical project manager who was leading this job commented:
“The situation with COVID-19 meant that this project was accelerated by the client so we had to react to suit the timings of the project. We had to project manage this whilst working from home and take into consideration the health and safety guidelines set out by the government when on site. The project briefing was completed on my driveway (two-metre social distancing was taken into account) so a real test of the teams resolve.”
Due to the unique nature of the project the communications between all parties had to be to a high standard. Remark Group and the team at RS Components worked together to be proactive in dealing with any issues on site and take into consideration all health and safety protocols.
Our engineers and project managers followed all health and safety protocols on and off site, ensuring that the project was not only delivered on time but also to a high standard.
Electrical Distribution
Remark Group had the pleasure in installing a new 4-way distribution board, that utilises the very latest technologies and innovations to offer a fully type tested conditional short circuit rating of 25kA to BS EN 61439-3. The project manager at RS Components commented:
“This project originally had a constantly shifting timescale and budget. Quotes were prepared to reflect this. Installation labour was released to time with the completion of the mezzanine build. This flexibility made the electrical installation of the project fit very well with the overall build.”
