Installation of modern IP telephone system

Higgins Building Supplies Ltd is a Wellingborough based builders merchants, serving Northamptonshire, Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire. Over the years, Remark has provided ongoing telephone support from 1999 to present, updated data networks in 2003 and installed fibre optics links to Higgins’ Yard Hut in 2008.

In 2012 Higgins Building Suppliers Ltd needed its employees to be able to connect to the main business telephone system and high-speed IP infrastructure from other remote locations via a modern IP telephone system.

• Working around a live operating office whilst keeping disruption to a minimum
• Finding a cost-effective solution that would suit the client

With the aim of creating remote access points to allow Higgins’ staff to connect to the telephone network, we supplied and installed a Samsung system which can connect to five devices simultaneously, such as mobile phones, office telephones and workshop extension lines. Functionality included call reporting for up to 50 users and call recording on all lines and extensions.

To enhance the functionality of its business telephone systems we recommended and installed IP Keyphones, on which we installed bespoke voicemail facilities. We provided Higgins Building Suppliers Ltd with all relevant licences for the Keyphones. The digital telephone systems included a connection card to allow access for up to 30 lines and all of the connections were linked to the company's existing network infrastructure.

“The Remark Group has looked after our business telephone systems since 1999, so when we moved premises in 2003 we didn’t hesitate in asking the team to install a new data network and more modern telephone equipment. This time, we needed a solution to our specific connection requirements and we are once again very pleased with the results that the Remark Group has provided.

“It is key that our staff can now connect with ease to our telephone system to be able to make and take calls wherever they are. Not only did the Remark Group install the equipment around our opening hours, but they also took care of the extras, like the licences required for the Keyphone equipment. It’s nice to find a company like us that will go the extra mile without any hesitation.

“We are soon to be opening another depot and will be calling on Remark again to fully install and link the connections in the new premises to our existing systems, to offer a seamless transition of communication between the sites.”
