Data Solutions for The Peterborough School

Founded in 1895, The Peterborough School is the only independent co-educational school for pupils aged 4-18 in the city. It is a member of the Woodard Corporation, the largest group of Church of England schools in England and Wales and is also registered as a charitable organisation.

When The Peterborough School commissioned a new Sports Facility in its existing school grounds, between the main buildings and the Nursery, Remark was called upon to work on the data aspects of the project and connect server networks to all three buildings. It was crucial for students and staff to be able to use the building’s modern technologies and power sources from the scheduled day of opening. The Peterborough School needed a seamless, simple and practical solution to complement its new build project.

Our response
We considered the various network cabling options available to The Peterborough School for its storage networks and installed fibre links that also included fibre patch panels for connections within new data cabinets. This fibre backbone linked the three buildings together and to the central network chassis in the main IT room. Two wall mounted cabinets were also constructed and installed in the hall and the Nursery to house the termination points for the fibre fittings.

To carry cabling between the main building, new Sports Facility and Nursery, a series of underground ducts were used. These service ducts carried the IT cabling and the fire alarm and security cameras network cabling.

Full testing of all components, configurations and labelling was undertaken on completion and all CAT5e Data Networks included a 25 year manufacturer’s warranty.

In the customer’s words:

“Remark really understood how important it was for us to offer the best facilities to students and teachers and we needed experts to be able to provide us with on-going technical support. The team’s creativity was evident in the solutions and the up-to-date technologies they recommended and they were happy to go the extra mile by designing the Data Network and Fibre Optic Infrastructure. Building a new facility is always a challenge, but the project was completed on time, meaning the new Sports Facility could be used on the first day of term as planned.”
