The BGL Group has 4.6 million customers and operates major contact centre operations (Fusion) in Peterborough, Coventry and Sunderland. Headquartered in Peterborough, the Group currently employs more than 2,400 people.
The brief
When expanding its offices in Peterborough, BGL required a reputable provider of business technology to create a robust, reliable network connection to its new premises capable of delivering large amounts of data.
A further requirement for the new building was the supply and installation of the audio visual equipment throughout the meeting rooms and in its executive boardroom. An important factor was the solution needed to be both highly innovative and intuitive to use, keeping in line with the level of investment BGLhas placed into the new building. It was important for BGL to appoint a company that was flexible, able to work within the tight deadlines associated with a new build and independently liaise with third parties.
Our response
We immediately identified the best solution that would ensure the requirements were met. We designed the network using underground fibre for the main link and a high performance GeoDesy laser link to provide a redundant link in the event the underground fibre is severed or fails. The laser link also provides the ability to load balance the network traffic between the two buildings, giving both high bandwidths and resilience between the two buildings’ communication rooms. Our highly skilled network installation team are proficient with the precise positioning and installation of laser links and underground cabling installations.
The BGL Group expressed that giving interactive presentations, for example walking through customer journeys live on a website and previewing television commercials, was a priority in order to engage internal and external meeting attendees. We designed and specified the solution and our audio visual team installed high quality professional LED screens and projectors in conference and meeting rooms along with visual control units and Freeview set top boxes.
The AV installation didn’t stop there, as top-of-the-range ceiling speakers and amplifiers were fitted, providing superior sound quality. Audio control levels, the projectors and lighting are managed via touch-screen CRESTRON panels which we specifically designed and programed to provide an intuitive user interface. This ensured ease of use, giving assurance when using the technology, and prevented the need for technical teams to constantly be on standby.
In the customer’s words
“Appointing a company with extensive experience in this industry, and particularly on new building projects, was very important. Having used the Remark Group previously to undertake work on other premises, I was confident of the high standards and it was clear from Remark’s initial proposal that they understood exactly what was required. It was also fortuitous that Remark is local to us and so during the installation period their engineers were never far away, and nothing was too much trouble for them.
“As this is now one of BGL’s flagship buildings, we want our people, clients and business partners to be impressed with every aspect. The AV technology in the meeting rooms and the advanced wireless data connection have hit that mark and the staff felt the benefits immediately, for example, being able to hold presentations in real-time online. With Remark taking the reins of the project, its team really helped ease the transition into the new premises and also keep to important deadlines. They delivered one hundred per cent.”
